WSOP Main Event: Day 1 Recap
After Day 1 of the 2013 WSOP Main Event, I’m happier than I should be for simply making Day 2. The day got off to a late start, but I was able to rally to finish STRONG! Check out Bluff Magazine’s blow-by-blow recap of the proceedings below…
Phil Hellmuth Runs Up Big Stack Late on Day 1C of 2013 WSOP Main Event
The 2013 WSOP Main Event would be incomplete without Phil Hellmuth. The 13-time bracelet winner and 1989 World Champion has not matched his 2011 and 2012 performances at the World Series of Poker, but that’s understandable. Hellmuth finished second in the WSOP Player of the Year race the last two years, winning bracelet number 12 in Vegas in the summer of 2012 and getting number 13 in style by taking the WSOP Europe title.

WSOP Main Event = White Magic Time!
The 2013 World Series of Poker has been a challenging one for me. Near misses, busts, and late starts have all added up to more than one disappointing finish. But I’m ready to MAN UP and head in to this year’s Main Event feeling strong!! I’m on the hunt for my 100th WSOP cash finish, not to mention bracelet #14! My dream is to score big here and make a deep run toward the final table, and I’m planning to do so with what I like to call “White Magic”…

From Poker News: Derby Poker Championship Returns to Kick-off 2013 Derby Weekend
Great feature written by Chad Holloway at Poker News highlighting my annual Kentucky Derby Charity Poker Tourn.! Celebs, athletes, and poker – it’s the best Derby party, period!
On Thursday, May 2, 2013 the Derby Poker Championship Celebrity Gala will return to Louisville, Kentucky, for a fourth consecutive year. The event, which benefits the Louisville affiliate of Susan G. Komen and Blessings in a Backpack, will be hosted by Hall of Fame basketball coach Denny Crum and poker pros Phil Hellmuth and Robert Williamson III.
“We support Blessings in a Backpack and Susan G. Komen Foundation and they are excellent Charities that do great work,” Hellmuth told PokerNews. “In fact, I will get out personally and stuff backpacks w food snacks for kids that need food in a local school in Louisville on Thursday morning.”
In the past, the event, which serves as the Official Welcome Party for the Unbridled Eve Celebrity Gala, has attracted an array of high-profile Derby guests including comedian Ron White; the Real Housewives of Orange County’s Vicki Gunvalson; best-selling author Nora Roberts; The Offices’ Oscar Nunez; former NFL quarterback Warren Moon; pro golfer Corey Pavin; Indy car driver Troy Hanson; and The Bachelor’s Bob Guiney, just to name a few.

WPT Venice
I’m in Venice with my wife this week. It’s snowing HEAVILY here, but that didn’t stop me from making what might be my best tournament entrance of all time! Here I am arriving at WPT Venice on a Gondola (on the Grand Canal) in Venetian Mask, black cape, and black cane.
